His journey began at York Furrier in Elmhurst at the age of 20, where he immersed himself in learning the intricacies of every aspect of the business. Today, he leverages that extensive experience to provide expert cleaning services for fur, shearlings, leathers, and fur-trimmed garments.
In the mid-1990s, furriers in the Chicagoland area faced a significant challenge when National Superior, the primary provider of fur cleaning services, ceased operations. This left many furriers searching for a reliable cleaning partner. York Furrier made a pivotal decision to bring the cleaning process in-house, and Bruce played an integral role in that transition. Over time, the methods were refined, resulting in a cleaning service that set new industry standards. Services eventually extended to include cleaning shearling and leather garments, and Bruce was proud to be a part of those initiatives.
Following the recent closure of York Furrier, prompted by the retirement of its owners, Bruce is excited to introduce Fur Cleaning Expert. It is important to note that Fur Cleaning Expert operates independently and is not affiliated with York Furrier or its previous owners. Fur Cleaning Expert's dedicated team includes former York Furrier employees who have formed lasting friendships through years of collaboration, and they are eager to bring their collective expertise and passion for service to clients.
In addition to specialized cleaning services, Fur Cleaning Expert also offers garment repair services, with a skilled furrier/finisher who brings many years of experience to ensure that garments always look their best.
